TAMPA - A 64-year-old woman was cited with careless driving this morning after tapping a stroller with a 1-year-old boy inside, police said.
The child was not visibly injured but was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital to be examined as a precaution, authorities said.
Tampa police said Amanda Arrindell was pushing the stroller east on West Bougainvillea Avenue across North Tampa Street about 7:40 a.m. when a gray 1994 Mitsubishi Galant stopped at the stop sign and turned right.
Initial reports said the crash occurred along Florida Avenue.
The driver, Margaret P. Crowell, 64, failed to see the stroller and knocked it over with the child, 1-year-old Javon Arrindell, inside, police said.
The car was traveling about 5 mph. Although the stroller was broken, Javon was not hurt, police said.
Police cited Crowell with careless driving.
