Deputies: Pasco Man Douses Girlfriend With Gasoline

LAND O' LAKES - A 29-year-old man burst into his girlfriend's home late Tuesday, doused her with gasoline and was attempting to ignite her when the woman's brothers pinned the suspect until authorities arrived, according to a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report.

Douglas Pattison, 9024 Sterling Lane, New Port Richey, remains in the Land O'Lakes Jail following his arrest on a charge of attempted murder, according to the report.

Kimberly Bartolotti, 26, reported she was outside her home at 2554 Martha Lane, Land O'Lakes, but ran inside after spotting her boyfriend approach carrying a red, one-gallon gas can about 11:23 p.m.

Bartolotti and her two brothers. who share the home with her, told authorities Pattison kicked in the door, pursued the fleeing woman into the hallway and poured the gas on her before attempting to ignite it with a disposable lighter pulled from his pocket.

Brothers Scott Barolotti, 28, and Jody Downs, 33, tackled Douglas and held him on the floor until Deputy Kalen Scull arrived five minutes later, according to the report.

Pattison, who is listed on the arrest report as unemployed, was treated at Florida Hospital Zephyrhills for multiple abrasions to his chin, a 1-inch cut to his head and swelling around the eyes before being taken to jail. Witnesses said the injuries were sustained when Pattison splintered the door frame and struggled to escape after being pinned to the floor.

Pattison told the deputy he was invited to the home by Kimberly Bartolotti to return her gas can and, upon opening the unlocked door, was attacked by her brothers.
