BROOKSVILLE - A Spring Hill man incarcerated at the local jail was charged with attempted escape after deputies discovered concrete blocks chiseled away inside his cell, authorities said.
Martin Curtis Carr Jr., 24, had chiseled the area using a makeshift tool and filled the holes with wet toilet paper to conceal it from the guards, according to an arrest report.
Three inmates lived with him and at least two of them assisted Carr in the escape attempt, deputies said.
Carr's criminal record includes arrests for battery, resisting arrest and unarmed robbery, according to court records.
