ORLANDO - Police say a father held his young daughters in an Orlando hotel standoff after the children's mother jumped from the third floor during an argument.
The father, Demetrice McNeal, 28, faces charges of aggravated assault, battery, false imprisonment and child neglect.
A police spokeswoman says the standoff forced officials to evacuate portions of the Ramada Plaza Orlando, off John Young Parkway and L.B. McCleod Road, for nearly four hours Tuesday.
Police officers responded to the hotel because of a domestic dispute. The mother jumped to escape McNeal, who was armed with a knife, police said. Authorities say the mother was treated for minor injuries to her face.
The children, ages 9 months and 2 years, were not hurt and were reunited with their mother.
