A 25-year-old Tampa man forced his way inside a home and pistol-whipped a woman inside, Tampa police say.
Police arrested Javario Barron at 9:35 a.m. today in connection with the Feb. 7 incident at the 7700 block of North 17th Street.
Barron was charged with robbery – home invasion less than $300.
The attack began when two people retuned home after a night out. After arriving, they heard banging on their unlocked front door and someone yelling "Let me in," an arrest report states.
According to the report: Barron opened the door, and the victims tried to slam it shut. Barron stuck his arm inside. He had a gun in his hand. There was a struggle.
"The suspect was able to force the door open and push the male victim to the floor," a report states. "He then began to pistol whip the female victim. The suspect then picked up the female victim's purse that was just inside the front door and ran out of the house."
The woman had a cut to her head but wasn't taken to a hospital, police say.
It wasn't immediately clear whether or how Barron might have known the victims.
Barron remained in Orient Road Jail today. No bail has been set.
