TAMPA - A food cart and tent on the West Plaza at the St. Pete Times Forum caught fire Thursday about 9:30 a.m. when a propane tank exploded.
No one was hurt, and Tampa Fire Rescue had the fire extinguished within 10 minutes.
But the explosion caused a stir at the Forum, where fans were just beginning to arrive for the Southeastern Conference men's basketball tournament.
According to a news release from Tampa Fire Rescue, a Forum employee who was setting up the grill noticed that the lines from the grill's two liquid propane tanks were frozen. He was attempting to fix the problem when the gas leaked and ignited.
