Dump Truck Kills Man With Bicycle On Waters Avenue

TAMPA - A man with a bicycle was killed by a dump truck today in the 5200 block of West Waters Avenue, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
About 2:45 p.m., the man was standing with or sitting on the bicycle on the northwest corner of Waters and Florida Mining Boulevard when a dump truck southbound on Florida Mining Boulevard struck him with the rear wheels, the sheriff's office said.
The sheriff's office had initially referred to the victim as a pedestrian.
No additional details were immediately available.
Deputies had advised motorists to avoid West Waters Avenue between North Manhattan Avenue and Anderson Road because of congestion related to the crash investigation.
