Lakeland native Spencer Duhm lasted five weeks on "Survivor: Tocantins - The Brazilian Highlands" but the youngest player in the series' history was voted out when his tribe turned on him.

But the 20-year-old University of Florida student says it was a "dream come true" and the biggest adventure of his life.

Duhm's "Survivor" adventure ended on Thursday night's episode. He became the fifth person this season to be voted off.

He was doomed after his tribe, the Jalapao, lost an immunity challenge and they felt he was the weakest link.

The challenge involved a makeshift game of keep-away. Balls were flung from a giant slingshot and members from the two tribes scrambled to catch them.

The game was close but when Duhm couldn't block a rival tribe member from catching two balls, the Timbura tribe won and Duhm took the heat.

"My performance was pretty pathetic," Duhm said on the show.

Duhm, the youngest contestant in the history of the show, was 19 when it was taped last year.

Duhm, who is gay, apparently did not let the other contestants know. He expressed concern that if they found out, he might not have the confidence of men in the Jalapao tribe such as Stephen Fishbach, a corporate consultant, and J.T. Thomas, a cattle rancher from Alabama.

But those two already had an alliance with Taj Johnson-George, a 37-year-old former pop singer.

Johnson-George is a minor celebrity. She also is the wife of former NFL player and Heisman Trophy winner Eddie George and was part of the R&B group, SWV.

She lobbied on Thursday's episode to have Duhm voted out and Duhm's lack of an alliance may have cost him the game.
