A Ruskin man is in critical condition today after being stabbed seven times in his home shortly after midnight, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say Joel Philip Husebo, 25, wearing all black and donning rubber gloves, broke into Louis Edward Wedge's mobile home at 2201 U.S. 41, No. 43.
Husebo, who deputies say borrowed money from Wedge in the past, stabbed the 58-year-old seven times in the chest and abdomen. Witnesses heard Wedge screaming and found the two men. They were able to detain Husebo, who deputies say was still wearing bloodied gloves, until authorities arrived.
Wedge was taken by helicopter to Tampa General Hospital, where he is in critical condition.
Husebo, of 101 22nd St. N.W., Unit H, Ruskin, was also taken to Tampa General because of shoulder pain. He was released to deputies and taken to Orient Road Jail on charges of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, armed burglary with battery and aggravated assault.
