Published: March 13, 2009

OKLAHOMA CITY - LaceDarius Dunn hit six 3-pointers and scored 24 points, leading a late surge as Baylor rallied after blowing a 17-point lead to stun No. 11 Kansas 71-64 in the Big 12 Tournament quarterfinals Thursday.

The three-time defending champion Jayhawks (25-7) led by five before Dunn fueled a decisive 12-0 run for the Bears (19-13).

Kansas became only the second top-seeded team to lose its opening game at the Big 12 Tournament. Baylor also was responsible for the other upset, beating Iowa State in 2001.
Sherron Collins scored 14 of his 16 points in the second half to lead the Jayhawks, but he airballed a potential tying 3-pointer with 26 seconds left. Marcus Morris and Tyshawn Taylor added 12 points apiece for Kansas.
Kevin Rogers added 14 points and Curtis Jerrells scored 10 for the Bears.

The Jayhawks - the defending national champions - are solidly in the NCAA Tournament, so the only thing in jeopardy is whether they'll get to play at a close-to-home Kansas City, Mo., in the first round. That could have been taken away at the hands of Dunn, who got Baylor off to a hot start and then finished strong.

NO. 4 MEMPHIS 51, TULANE 41

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Shawn Taggart scored 19 points, and Memphis extended the nation's longest winning streak to 23 by holding off Tulane (14-17) in the quarterfinals of the Conference USA Tournament.

The Tigers (29-3) are trying to add a fourth straight tournament title to their fourth consecutive regular-season title, and playing on their home floor helped them push their C-USA winning streak to 59 straight games overall.

OKLAHOMA STATE 71,

NO. 6 OKLAHOMA 70

James Anderson hit two free throws with 2.3 seconds left and Oklahoma State upset Oklahoma in a Big 12 Tournament quarterfinal.

Byron Eaton had 16 points and seven assists for Oklahoma State (22-10), which snapped a five-game losing streak against Oklahoma (27-4) and all but clinched an NCAA Tournament berth.

Oklahoma's Blake Griffin had 17 points and 19 rebounds.

NO. 13 WASHINGTON 85,

STANFORD 73

LOS ANGELES - Jon Brockman scored 20 points, Isaiah Thomas sparked a decisive second-half spurt with nine points and Washington defeated Stanford (18-13) in the Pac-10 Tournament quarterfinals.

The Huskies (25-7) will play 23rd-ranked Arizona State (23-8) in today's semifinals at Staples Center.

NO. 19 XAVIER 66,

SAINT LOUIS 47

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - B.J. Raymond had 18 points to lead Xavier (25-6) to a victory against Saint Louis (18-14) in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 Tournament.

NO. 23 ARIZONA STATE 68,

ARIZONA 56

LOS ANGELES - Pac-10 Player of the Year James Harden had 27 points and eight rebounds, and No. 23 Arizona State (23-8) beat Arizona (19-13) in the quarterfinals.

NO. 25 BYU 80, AIR FORCE 69

LAS VEGAS - Jimmer Fredette scored 21 points, Jonathan Tavernari had 19 points and 11 rebounds, and BYU (22-9) overcame a halftime deficit in a victory against Air Force (10-21) in the Mountain West Tournament quarterfinals.

Kansas State Women Advance

Ashley Sweat scored 19 points to lead No. 22 Kansas State (24-6) past Colorado (11-18) 68-51 Thursday in the first round of Big 12 Conference Tournament.

NO. 23 TEXAS 62, MISSOURI 59

Brittainey Raven connected on a running layup in the lane with 22.8 seconds left as Texas (21-10) used a series of stolen inbounds passes to rally for a win vs. Missouri (13-17) in the Big 12 tourney's first round.
