TAMPA - Weapons of choice in a pair of unrelated attacks Thursday night included a hammer and a kitchen pan. Two people were arrested, and one was hospitalized with a broken nose, authorities said.
The first occurred shortly before 7 p.m. at 2902 Ramada Drive when Dana Lee Hamilton, 34, of 10939 Brittany Lane, Apt. 66, and an accomplice began beating on a man after an argument, an arrest affidavit said. The affidavit said Hamilton struck the unidentified man several times on the head with the hammer, while another attacker kicked and punched the man.
Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies said the injured man was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he was treated as a trauma alert patient. Deputies said he suffered a broken nose.
Hamilton was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and was released from custody this morning after posting $7,500 bail. The accomplice was not immediately charged, jail records say.
The second incident occurred on West Paris Street at 10:44 p.m., deputies said.
Johnny James Williams Jr., 30, of 4503 W. Paris St., became involved in an argument with his live-in girlfriend, deputies said. Deputies said the woman's child picked up a pan and threw it at Williams, who fetched it and chased the youth outside, striking her with the pan. A third person tried to break up the fight and was pummeled by Williams, deputies said. The names of the other people were not included in the report and the extent of their injuries was not released.
Williams was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated child abuse and battery. He remained in the Orient Road Jail this morning. Bail was not set.
