NEW PORT RICHEY - Calling all young wordsmiths. To commemorate the bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln's birth, the West Pasco Bar Association wants sixth graders in Pasco County to write an essay on Lincoln.
Essay topic is "A Legacy of Liberty, Celebrating Lincoln's Bicentennial." Essays should be no longer than 272 words, the number of words in the Gettysburg Address.
Six contest winners, their parents and teacher will be recognized at the Bar Association's Law Day banquet in Trinity on Thursday, May 7. Winners will also receive $200 U.S. Savings Bonds.
Any sixth grader in public, private or home school is eligible to enter the contest.
Deadline is Tuesday, March 31.
