Tampa police officers searching for a revolver stolen 3 1/2 years ago say they found marijuana buried in a backyard and parents sleeping in bed with their 4-month-old in a room with loose leaves sprinkled about among baby toys and clothes.
A search warrant was executed at 9311 N. 15th St. Friday at about 8 a.m., according to a report, which describes what police found.
Police were searching for a loaded .38 caliber revolver stolen in November 2005.
As police conducted their search for the weapon, they found more than 45 pounds of marijuana buried underground in a plastic container. The marijuana was packaged for resale purposes.
While continuing their search, officers entered a room where Aslyn Cannonier, 33 and Barbara Marquarita Pino, 19, were sleeping in bed with her 4-month-old.
Loose marijuana was strewn about the bed and the floor and mixed in with the baby's toys and clothing.
"The cannabis could easily have been ingested by a child," a responding officer wrote in the report.
Cannonier and Pino were arrested on charges of grand theft firearm, possession of cannabis with intent to sell, possession of cannabis and child neglect.
Both were released from the Orient Road Jail at 8 p.m. Friday on $8,000 bail.
