Blair Blew It
If Brian Blair ever wanted to continue on in the field of politics he has really blown his chances of it ever happening again.
This lawsuit is a waste of the court's time.
What is he thinking? It seems he is a sore loser at everything.
Any person in his right mind who runs for any public office knows he is going to face all sorts of things. Maybe Blair had too many blows to the head in his wrestling career to know that when you run for public office you are going to have to face both false and negative campaigning. Need an example? Just look at the last presidential campaign - lots of negative and false campaigning, but no lawsuits there.
Blair should be used to all the negative and false mud slinging; he took it and dished it out in his wrestling career and was faced with it while a county commissioner.
I never considered voting for him because he loved those with money and was behind big development and wouldn't listen to us taxpayers.
Once again, Blair is wasting our tax dollars and looking to profit from being a sore loser.

Demented Spin Artist
Re: "Let The Inquisition Start With Frank" (Other Views, March 12):
In this age where awards abound, surely a trophy must be found for the unnamed spin-artist who blamed the Democrats for our present economic crises.
No wonder the name of the editorial's author wasn't included. Surely what's-his-name must subscribe to that demented reasoning process that holds Einstein responsible for the atomic bomb and brands Columbus the father of slavery.
Whoever this guy is, looks to me like the inquisition should start with him.

A Truman Republican
As a lifelong Republican, I can't tell you how disappointed I have been over the recent budget package. And I'm not just talking about the Democrats. The Republicans were just as guilty for loading the package with earmarks.
The Republicans missed an opportunity when they had a chance to refuse earmarks. Instead, they were just as guilty as the Democrats of passing on the debt to our children and grandchildren. Shame on the Republican Party that has the nerve to condemn the Democrats, when they got down in the dirt with them.
I guess Harry Truman hit the nail on the head with his famous quote: "When I was considering what to do in life, I considered being a piano player in a whore house or going into politics. Seems they are the same thing."

Likes Private Health Care
Re: "No 'Enjoying' Health Insurance" by Carrie Giest (Letter Of The Day, March 12): I do enjoy my private health care. I get to choose my own doctors and choose when I want to go. Why should I have to compromise my health care so people like you can save money? Sounds to me that you need to find a job that pays you more money and quit complaining about the bad hand you dealt yourself.

In "Research With Embryos" (Letters, March 11), the author writes: "All of us began life as embryos. Aren't we lucky or blessed that no one put us in a dish and tore us apart in the name of 'science'?"
Yes, but many, many more of us are lucky that our moms didn't decide to spend the night in the guest room.

Supports Research
While my personal belief is right to life, I still have an equally strong belief in freedom of choice. That choice should be between the couple and God and no one else. So when it comes to embryonic research, I am for it.
As if I was that unwanted embryo in a dish, I feel my life would be much better served selflessly in research than the current path of medical waste

Networking At Its Finest
All of us who know Ron Weaver know in our hearts is that he truly cares for people. This was made totally evident at a meeting of Real Estate Lives. This group began with Ron's vision of a networking group to help people who have been laid off because of the recent economic turmoil to find work.
There were some 140 unemployed people treated to food and drink in an atmosphere designed for networking. And there was no cost to anyone attending. Ron used his own network to put together a group of over 30 like-minded companies to sponsor not only the event, but a Web site ( www.realestatelives.org), seminars and other assistance through partnerships with caring companies.
There also are many volunteers and companies offering time and talents for assistance, and nearly 20 people have found jobs since Real Estate Lives began. To Ron and all the volunteers, thank you for the great thing you have done.
