A Plant City man was drunk Saturday afternoon when his car was involved in a wreck that left another driver with serious injuries, according to the Plant City Police Department.
Marcelo Hernandez-Perez, 22, 509 Greenway Drive, was charged with drunken-driving - serious bodily injury and with not having a valid driver's license, according to an arrest affidavit.
The wreck occurred about 3:50 p.m. at Paul Buchman Highway and Terrace Drive, authorities said. The other driver had "serious bodily" injuries and was transported to Tampa General Hospital; his name and condition were not available.
Hernandez-Perez's eyes were watery and he agreed to take a field sobriety test, which he failed, the affidavit says. He also agreed to submit to a blood test, the results of which weren't available.
A breath test showed his blood-alcohol percentage was .166 and .170, according to jail records. A driver in Florida is presumed intoxicated if his blood-alcohol percent is .08.
He was being held at the Orient Road Jail on $2,250 bail, jail records show.
