A little more moisture will creep into the area through today as winds shift before a front arrives with a small rain chance later in the week, forecasters say. That moisture tonight will create some sea fog over the Gulf waters that could drift over coastal areas, mainly from Pinellas County north.
Sea fog forms when warmer air drifts over cool Gulf waters and it can be especially thick and last well into the day. It doesn't always burn off an hour or so after dawn like typical fog.
The weather service says the sea fog tonight and Monday morning would mainly affect boaters and people driving near the coast.
For the first time since the start of March, weather service forecasts have a mention of rain. Forecasters says there's a 20 percent chance of rain in their outlook through the daylight hours Tuesday and are calling for about a quarter inch at the most if.
