Arrest Warrant Issued For Actress Lohan

Published: March 15, 2009

An arrest warrant has been issued for actress Lindsay Lohan, possibly in connection with a 2007 drunken driving arrest after she crashed her Mercedes-Benz into a tree, police said Saturday.

A judge at Los Angeles Superior Court in Beverly Hills, Calif., issued the warrant on Friday and it carries a bail amount of $50,000, Sgt. Mike Foxen said.

"We believe it has to do with her arrest for DUI," Foxen said.
Shawn Chapman Holley, Lohan's attorney, said in a statement Saturday that her client has complied with the terms of probation and all court orders.

"The warrant issued on Friday was, in our view, born out of a misunderstanding which I am confident I can clear up next week," she said.

A court hearing for Lohan is scheduled for Monday.

Superman No. 1 Sells For $317,200

A rare copy of the first comic book featuring Superman has sold for $317,200 in an Internet auction. The previous owner of Action Comics No. 1 bought it for 35 cents in the early 1950s.

It's one of the highest prices ever paid for a comic book, a likely testament to the volume's rarity and its excellent condition, said Stephen Fishler, co-owner of the auction site ComicConnect.com and its sister dealership, Metropolis Collectibles.

The winning bid for the 1938 edition was submitted by John Dolmayan, drummer for the rock band System of a Down, for an unidentified client, according to managers at ComicConnect.com.

Only about 100 copies of Action Comics No. 1 are known to exist and they seldom come up for sale.

Artists Rally For Wildfire Victims

Grammy-winning British rockers Coldplay and the recently reunited Midnight Oil rallied huge crowds Saturday for benefit concerts to raise funds for victims of Australia's deadly wildfires.

Tens of thousands turned out in Sydney and Melbourne, with organizers hoping to raise 5 million Australian dollars ($3.3 million). Fires ripped across southern Victoria state last month, killing at least 210 people and destroying thousands of homes.

As images of the fire devastation flashed across giant screens at both venues, the raucous crowds fell quiet to observe a minute of silence. Australian pop icon Kylie Minogue then took the stage in Melbourne to address the audience before performing Peter Allen's hit, "I Still Call Australia Home."

"I think that the minute's silence probably says more than any of us could say," Minogue said. "There's a thing we talk about a lot, which is the Australian spirit, and I believe that it's in evidence tonight all around the country."
