Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies were investigating a stabbing sparked by jealously this afternoon in Wimauma.
The 2:18 p.m. incident involved two men, one of whom was flirting with the girlfriend of the other, deputies said. The man with the girlfriend stabbed the man doing the flirting once in the chest with a kitchen knife, according to the sheriff's office. The incident occurred at 707 Sixth St.
The injured man was flown to Tampa General Hospital, where he was treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening. He was uncooperative and refused to give his name to deputies or hospital officials, deputies said.
Martin Vasquez, 34, 705 Sixth St., Wimauma, was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated battery. Information about his bail was unavailable this afternoon.
