Band Breakup Led To Gunshot, Police Say

TAMPA - A band's disharmony led one member to shoot at another this afternoon, police say.

Corey Anthony, 25, of Tampa, posted on MySpace in January that he wanted to leave his current band and go solo, Tampa police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said.

Band member Derick Williams, 25, saw the posting Monday and got angry, Davis said. At 3:13 p.m. today, Williams went to Anthony's home on East Floribraska to confront him.

Anthony went into his house and Williams chased him, kicking the front door and breaking the glass pane at the bottom, police say. Williams then took out a .9mm handgun and fired one shot at the door before running away, Davis said.

Police arrested Williams at his home at 3112 E. 8th Ave and charged him with shooting into an occupied dwelling and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He is being held at Orient Road Jail on $15,000 bail.
