Clearwater police are looking for a tattooed gunman they say robbed a Michael's arts and crafts store on Saturday.
He is described as a black man, 20 to 25 years old, who has a muscular build and who, at the time of the robbery, was wearing a light green shirt and a dark green New York Yankees hat, said Elizabeth Watts, Clearwater's public safety spokeswoman.
The tattoos were of the letters B and C and they were on the right side of the suspect's neck, she said. Both hands had tattoos of teardrops or lines or both, she said.
The robbery occurred at the Michael's at 2631 Gulf-to-Bay Blvd. at roughly 3:15 p.m., she said.
The suspect entered the store and approached the cashier, ostensibly to purchase a small item, she said. But then he pulled out a handgun and demanded all of the money in the cashier's register. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fled from the store.
Anyone with information about the suspect or this crime is asked to call the Clearwater Police Department Tip Line at 727-562-4422.
