Festival Has Music For All Tastes

The annual Chasco Fiesta is set to satisfy everyone from seniors to teeny boppers with a wide range of music during its 10-day run.

A highlight of the event will be the Country Concert on March 28, starring Jimmy Wayne and Jason Michael Carroll. Wayne's hit "Do You Believe Me Now" follows other hits, including "Stay Gone," which reached No. 3 on Billboard's country singles chart.

Another song, "Paper Angels," which spotlights the plight of abused children, earned Wayne the William Booth Humanitarian Award from the Salvation Army.

Billboard named Carroll its Top New Country Artist of 2007. The 29-year-old North Carolina-born son of a preacher saw his debut album "Waitin' in the Country" reach No. 1 on the charts. His singles "Alyssa Lies" and "Livin' Our Love Song" were top five hits.

Another fiesta highlight will be the appearance of Geoff Moore, who will perform at the free Contemporary Christian Music concert Friday

Moore's album, "Speak to Me," was nominated for a Dove Award for Inspirational Album of Year. The Gospel Music Association presents the Doves each year to honor achievements in Christian music. Moore has chalked up a 22-year career in Christian music. Moore also is known for his version of "When I Get Where I'm Going," which became a hit for Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton.

Entertainment will kick off tonight with the Native American Night of Music & Dancing. It will feature classical guitarist Gabriel Ayala, a member of the Yaqui people of southern Arizona.

On Saturday, there will be a bow to rock with Rock 'n' Roll Tribute in the Park.

For the younger set, Radio Disney will present the free Magical Night of Entertainment on Sunday. The increasingly popular 2TOOCUTE, twin sisters from Atlanta, will headline the event with their rap music.

Monday is dedicated to bluegrass fans with Bluegrass Music in the Park, and Tuesday, Noche Latina will carry a Latin beat.
Dance fans are invited to bring their dance shoes on Wednesday, for Dancing Under the Stars with the big band sound of Joe Walsh and the Serenaders and velvet-voiced Don Bailey.

On March 26, Guitar Shorty will headline Rhythm & Bluesmasters. Shorty has opened for such greats as T-Bone Walker, Big Joe Turner and Little Richard. He is the recipient of a Blues Music Award, considered the highest honor for U.S. blues artists.

On March 27, True Oldies night will feature the Dixie Cups, whose "Chapel of Love" reached No. 1 on the charts in 1964. "People Say" earned them a second gold record. Other hits included "You Should Have Seen the Way He Looked at Me," "Little Bell" and "Iko Iko."

Concerts are at Sims Park: Take U.S. 19 to New Port Richey. Head east on Main Street and take to Bank Street. Make a left on Bank Street and Sims Park is located on the right-hand side.
