PORT CHARLOTTE - Eduardo Morlan is back in the Rays' organization.
The reliever was selected by the Brewers in the Rule 5 draft in December but was cut by Milwaukee on Tuesday.
He cleared waivers, and Tampa Bay took him back, paying $25,000 (half of what Milwaukee paid to draft him). Morlan is on the roster at Triple-A Durham and not on the Rays' 40-man roster.
"We're excited to get Eddie back," said Rays executive vice president Andrew Friedman. "We feel like he has the ability to be an above-average major-league reliever, and we'll continue to work with him to hopefully get him to that point."
Morlan was the third player acquired from Minnesota in the 2007 trade that brought pitcher Matt Garza and shortstop Jason Bartlett to Tampa Bay.
