Chalk is the medium, the sidewalk is their canvas.
More than 20 artists are creating temporary masterpieces at Old Hyde Park Village's Chalk Walk Festival today through Sunday. Everyone is encouraged to stroll the village and watch the artists' colorful work come to life.
These artworks are a far cry from the hopscotch grid you scratched out on your driveway. They do share one characteristic, however: The artwork will last only until the next rain.
On Saturday and Sunday, there will be live entertainment, food vendors and silent auction. Children also can get their face painted or try their hand at creating a chalk artwork.
