MANATEE COUNTY - A boat and trailer were found in flames around 11 p.m. Thursday, and authorities confirmed they were stolen from a business whose owner was assaulted by a burglar a day earlier.
On Wednesday, a Palmetto business owner was beaten when he pursued a burglar who was stealing a boat and trailer from his lot, the Manatee Sheriff's Office said.
Raymond T. Corda Jr., the owner of Manatee Mobile Marine at 3806 U.S. 41 N., suffered minor injuries from the attack, and the boat and trailer were taken back to the lot.
About 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Corda noticed another boat and trailer had been stolen in the Wednesday night incident, the report said. At 11 p.m., the boat and trailer were found in flames at the intersection of Rogers and Saffold roads.
