Six of seven counties in the Bay area are growing in population, but Pinellas continues a four-year decline, the latest census data show.
For the year that ended July 1, Pasco County had the region's biggest rate of growth, 2.1 percent. The county's official population as of July was 471,028.
Next, in order, are Hernando County at 1.7 percent; Polk, 1.3 percent; Hillsborough, 0.9 percent; Manatee, 0.5 percent; and Sarasota, 0.3 percent.
Hillsborough's population grew for the eighth year in a row, to 1,180,784.
Pinellas' population dropped 0.5 percent, to 910,260. The county's figures have dropped each year since 2004.
Statewide, population declined in 12 of Florida's 67 counties.
