TAMPA - There are two words Mitchell softball coach Scott Bisbe has been dying to hear for at least the past two weeks: Run support.
Thursday night at Alonso, the Mustangs cranked out eight runs, six in the first three innings, and pitcher Cortney Radke had 10 strikeouts to knock off the Ravens, 8-1.
"We've had good pitching all year, but we'll score one run, two runs. We finally scored some runs," Bisbe said. "When you have good pitching and you can't score enough runs to win a game, it's bad. It's kind of the way we've been all year."
The onslaught began early.
Olivia Kline smashed a double into right field to score Ciara Seymour in the first. Five batters into the top of the second, Heather Muccino drilled a triple into right field, scoring Stephanie Palazzolo and Ally Summers for the 3-0 advantage.
In the next inning, Sara Brock's single into shallow left scored Kline. Summers' triple drove in Brock and Palazzolo, increasing the lead, 6-0.
The Mustangs (11-4) had 13 hits, with five going for extra bases.
