Chalk is the medium; the sidewalk is their canvas.
More than 20 artists are creating temporary masterpieces at Old Hyde Park Village's Chalk Walk Festival through Sunday.
Visitors are encouraged to stroll the village and watch the artists' colorful work come to life.
The artwork is a far cry from the hopscotch grid you scratched out on your driveway. The two do share one characteristic, however: They last only until the next rain.
Today and Sunday, there will be live entertainment, food vendors and silent auction. Children also can get their face painted or try their hand at creating chalk artwork.
