STORRS, Conn. - Ninth-seeded Temple (21-9) is likely to have the crowd behind it as the Owls face eighth-seeded Florida (23-7) today in a first-round game in the Trenton Regional.
First-year Temple coach Tonya Cardoza spent the previous 14 seasons as an assistant coach at UConn.
"I actually promised some of the UConn players that I would be back here, and so this is how I get to come back," Cardoza said. "I'm really happy about the fact that we'll actually have some fans here cheering for us."
Florida is just 1-5 over its past six games, losing 71-67 to Tennessee in their conference quarterfinals on March 6.
"We lost a game that we felt we should have won in SEC Tournament and I think our team is still feeling that loss, and good luck to Temple because we are going to take it all out on them," senior Marshae Dotson said.
