LARGO - When Nancy Rapino realized she picked the winning numbers and won a share of the $2 million Mega Money jackpot, she worried she would misplace the ticket before she could claim the prize at Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee.
"I immediately put it in my safe," Rapino of Largo said in a written statement, "and brought the safe in the car with me."
Rapino chose the one-time, lump-sum payment of $741,770.50, according to lottery officials. She bought the winning quick pick Mega Money ticket at a 7-Eleven store at 2030 Gulf to Bay Blvd. in Clearwater. The store received $4,000 for selling the winning ticket.
One other person won a share of the $2 million prize, but has not yet claimed the winnings, lottery officials said. The second winning ticket was purchased in Miami. The winning numbers were 17-20-39-41 and the Megaball number was 7.
Total ticket sales for last Friday's jackpot generated more than $3 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund, lottery officials say.
