TAMPA - A Sarasota man who hired men to beat his elderly in-laws has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison.
Alex Shevgert was convicted in November of conspiracy to travel to injure or kill and abetting another to travel to injure or kill.
Shevgert solicited men to attack Grigori and Galina Komissarchuk after they stopped giving him money.
The Komissarchuks, who had homes in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Sarasota, suffered serious injuries in the attacks, including skull fractures.
