Biker Named Sturgis Injured in St. Pete Collision

A 41-year-old motorcyclist was injured Monday afternoon when his bike collided with a car on 54th Avenue South in St. Petersburg, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Todd E. Sturgis of St. Petersburg was transported to Bayfront Medical Center with serious injuries, the patrol said.
At about 5 p.m., Sturgis was riding east on the thoroughfare when an oncoming car turned in front of him at 28th Street South, the patrol said. The driver of the car, Kristina M. Hood, 23, of St. Petersburg, was not injured.
Hood was charged with violating a right of way.
Alcohol was not a factor. Sturgis wasn't wearing a helmet, according to the patrol.
