St. Pete's Samuels Set To Fight Valenzuela In Tampa

St. Petersburg junior welterweight Derrick Samuels (16-4-1) will fight against Mexico's Roberto Valenzuela (48-45-2) during "Fight Night At The Pavilion" on Friday. The fight will take place at the A La Carter Event Pavilion in Tampa and is promoted by Tampa's Starfight Productions.

Valenzuela has lost six of his last 10 fights, but the bout is a step up in class for Samuels, 27, who hopes to land bigger fights later this year.

In the comain event, Tampa cruiserweight Nicholas Iannuzzi (9-0) will fight against Port Charlotte's Theo Kruger (9-7-1).

Other fights on the card are Tampa female featherweight Jenna Shiver (7-4-1) vs. Pennsylvania's Christina Leadbeater (2-1); Tampa featherweight Charlie Serrano (7-2) vs. London's Vineash Rungea (2-12-3); Tampa light heavyweight Adam Hubinger (12-0) vs. Philadelphia's Jose Medina (14-13); Russian heavyweight Magomed Abdusalamov (3-0) vs. Alabama's Larry White (3-4).

Ticket prices range between $20 and $80.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and the first fight begins at 8.
