LEALMAN - A fire heavily damaged a Lealman tire business this morning, firefighters say.
Two passers-by alerted a Pinellas County deputy to the smoke pouring from D&B Tires about 4:30 a.m. The deputy called the fire department and headed to the store, 4601 28th Street North.
He found the business and a burgundy 2002 Chrysler Town & Country minivan parked in front of it both on fire, Lealman Fire District Captain Larry Thompson said.
Sami's Market and Deli, housed in the same building, received considerable smoke damage, Thompson said.
Firefighters got the blaze under control in about an hour. There were no reports of injuries.
Firefighters closed the intersection of 28th Street and 46th Avenue for two hours while they investigated the fire. It was reopened about 6:30 a.m.
Property records indicate the building is owned by Angelou Savva of Seminole and is valued at $145,000, the Lealman Fire District said in a news release. The amount of damage has not been determined.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
