JACKSONVILLE - A judge has granted a two-week continuance in the trial of a man charged with attempted murder in the shooting of Jacksonville Jaguars player Richard Collier.
The trial of 33-year-old Tyrone Hartsfield had been scheduled to begin March 30, but Circuit Judge Mallory D. Cooper granted a defense motion and rescheduled for April 13.
Defense attorney Ann Finnell told the judge she could not be ready for trial Monday and blamed the prosecution for not supplying evidence is a timely matter. Assistant State Attorney Bernie de la Rionda denied that allegation.
Collier was shot 14 times in early September as he sat in his car outside a Jacksonville apartment. His left leg was amputated and he is paralyzed from the waist down.
