Taken Baby

I fail to see why an illegal alien who was stupid enough to give her baby to someone she didn't know because she was "afraid of deportation" should be front-page news. If she wasn't an illegal alien living off the USA's largess to begin with, she wouldn't be worried about being deported.

I'm glad the baby was unharmed and that she got her back, but maybe the mother ought to learn about the laws of the United States and become a legal citizen before she thinks about giving up her baby. Does anyone but me see the irony in this story?

No Control

What's the average citizen to do?

We've tightened up our belts in response to higher costs and lost resources (our IRAs).

Yesterday, I received a letter from the State Group Health insurance indicating our monthly rates were going up $50 a month! This, coupled with other increased medical/health-related bills we have incurred of late, has made it very difficult to be an efficient and intelligent consumer. I feel like I have no control over my finances or my destiny.

Isn't there any recourse? This is a state organization; doesn't anyone say "too much?"

I wrote to the state commissioner of insurance this morning. Hope I get a response but doubt it will be a satisfying one. When does it stop?

Save Secret Ballot
The right to a secret ballot when deciding whether or not to organize in a union should be protected in the form of a state constitutional amendment or at least decided by voters. Taking away this right opens the door for intimidation and harassment by union representatives and pro-union colleagues. Why do unions and their allies in the Legislature want to take away the right to a secret ballot?

The Campaign's Over

President Obama arrived with soaring rhetoric at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. Then, like most successful politicians, he learned sincerity is critical.

Fake it, and you're a winner.

Now Obama's advisors should tell him: You won! Stop campaigning. Start governing.

Respect The President

As a Republican I am ashamed to link myself to individuals who speak utter nonsense about what they think they know and take cheap shots at our president. Regardless of whether the president is a Democrat or Republican, he is our president.

A sense of being American comes first as opposed to partisan politics. We cannot allow this or any other administration to fail, simply because it is quite clear Congress does not have the same needs as the American people. Nor does it understand or remember their history beyond the current news cycle.

Disagreeing with policy is one thing, but when the party decides to attack a president and has no counter plan of its own, that shows me that politics is the lay of the land and the public be damned.
