ST. PETERSBURG - Police have arrested a homeless man they say broke into more than two dozen vehicles in two weeks.
Undercover officers saw Francisco J. Garcia, 36, break into a 2009 Chevy Malibu at Third Avenue North and Second Street about 6:15 p.m. Thursday and caught him trying to steal the GPS unit, St. Petersburg police spokesman George Kajtsa said.
An investigation revealed Garcia was involved in 25 vehicle burglaries in which GPS units were stolen, police said. Most of the burglaries occurred in downtown St. Petersburg, with at least two at the Renaissance Vinoy Resort and three at the Salvador Dali museum.
