St. Petersburg Woman Gets New Style

TAMPA - "I'm hot, hot, hot," said a St. Petersburg woman who got a new hairstyle this week, courtesy of "Live With Regis and Kelly."

"I really love this new look, and I may never change it," said Rebecca Aragon, 51, who revealed her layered locks on the program Friday in New York.

"You look 30 years younger," proclaimed co-host Kelly Ripa. "It's amazing."

"I am so elated, because I have this terrific new look and I got to meet Regis," Aragon said in a telephone interview.

Gone are her long frizzy gray-and-white locks. Celebrity stylist Oscar Blandi turned her into an auburn-haired beauty with honey-blond streaks.

"I went with a layered look and colors that are low maintenance," said Blandi, who also styles Ripa's hair. He said he chose blond shades so her gray would blend more naturally.

Ripa said she and Aragon are kindred spirits because they share the same kind of "bad hair" that needs professional primping to look good. "I feel like she's my living hair alter ego," Ripa said.

Aragon, an electrician's apprentice, was one of five women selected for their "bad hair" by the show.

Aragon sent in a video on which she said her waist-length gray-and-white hair looked like it was run through a food processor.

Aragon was flown to New York this week. She said she spent most of Thursday in Blandi's salon. "They were wonderful to me," she said. "I haven't cut my hair in five or six years."

She added she often wears a bandanna or a cap while working with her fiance as an electrician. She said Blandi gave her instructions so she can keep the new look.
