ST. LEO - A pair of former baseball teammates and a past tennis star were enshrined in Saint Leo University's Athletics Hall of Fame in a ceremony Thursday night at the campus community center.

Sean O'Connor, Class of 1983, Ricky Dale, Class of 1984 and Stephanie Harris, Class of 2000, became members No. 101, 102 and 103 in the Hall of Fame, which has honored one class each year since 1987.

O'Connor, who remains second all-time in school history with 63 appearances as a pitcher, is a Southeast Region scouting supervisor for the San Francisco Giants. He previously worked for the Colorado Rockies and was a head coach or assistant at five different schools, including Brown University and Providence College.

Dale, who was O'Connor's teammate, was the first Sport Management graduate in school history, and he is a professor of Health Analysis at Brevard Community College.

On the field for the Lions, the two-time All-Sunshine State Conference selection made one error in 109 varsity games. As a junior he batted .331 with 50 RBIs and 18 steals. As a senior on the 1984 team, which went a school-best 46-13, he hit .350 with 65 runs and 27 steals.

Harris, a member of the Dean's List throughout her four years at the school, was the founder and first chairperson of the school's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, as well as founder and secretary of the SSC's first Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She won a total of 58 matches (20 singles, 38 doubles) in her four-year career.

WELCOME TO THE POLL: For the first time in school history, the Saint Leo women's golf team ascended into the top 25 in two national Division II polls.

Buoyed by its strength of schedule in the talented SSC, the Lions are No. 24 in both the Golf World poll and the golfstat.com poll, released this week. The Golf World poll is loaded with SSC powers, including Nova Southeastern (No. 1), Florida Southern (No. 2), Rollins (No. 3) and Lynn (No. 4).

In addition, Lions No. 1 player Goeun Lee became the first SLU women's golfer to be named a conference player of the week this week.

McLAMAR PACES LIONS: Last Monday, former Ridgewood High star Aaron McLamar was named the SSC's baseball player of the week after Saint Leo (13-20, 4-5 SSC) captured its first conference series of the year, taking two of three from nationally-ranked Lynn.

McLamar hit .474 with 10 RBIs and eight runs during the week.

The Lions play Florida Southern in a three-game series at Southard Stadium starting Friday. A doubleheader is scheduled for today.
