OLDSMAR - A 15-year-old pedestrian from Oldsmar was killed Friday night after being hit by a pickup on Tampa Road about 200 yards west of the intersection with East Lake Woodlands Parkway.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, about 9:30 p.m., Erica Hansen stepped into the path of a 2004 Dodge Ram driven by Reinaldo Heredia Jr., 41, of Tampa.
Hansen died at Mease-Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor.
Deputies say neither speed nor alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash.
Rib Shack Damaged By Fire
TAMPA - It wasn't barbecue cooking Friday night at Reggie's Rib Shack on 1301 N. Howard Ave. - it was the restaurant.
A worker failed to extinguish the barbecue pit fire, Tampa Fire Rescue said. The fire was discovered Saturday morning when an employee opened the door of the business and flames burst out of the cooking area, authorities said.
Firefighters arrived at the scene at 8:09 a.m. Saturday and saw flames coming from the roof. The fire was under control in about 15 minutes and caused about $50,000 in damage.
No injuries were reported and no damage was reported at the gas station attached to Reggie's.
