A fire that caused $30,000 damage Sunday night to The Source of Life Community Development Center in St. Petersburg appears to have been arson, investigators say.
Firefighters responded to 2500 Ninth Ave. S. about 9 p.m. and saw heavy smoke and fire from the second floor of the masonry building, St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue spokesman Lt. Joel Granata said in a written statement.
No one was inside the building during the blaze and no injuries were reported.
Fire and rescue investigators have determined that the fire was intentionally set, Granata said.
The incident remains under investigation.
