Disney Cruise Line is moving its Disney Wonder ship from Florida to California in 2011.
The announcement made today says the cruise line is working with the Port of Los Angeles to relocate there from Port Canaveral. The Los Angeles port commissioners will consider a two-year contract with Disney on Thursday.
Disney estimated that the West Coast sailings could generate more than 250,000 passengers over five years.
Although Port Canaveral is losing one ship, it's scheduled to gain two new ones – Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, in 2011 and 2012, respectively.
Last year, Disney extended its contract with Port Canaveral through 2022 and will keep the two ships there at least through 2014, said cruise line spokeswoman Christi Erwin Donnan.
