Raise Water Rates
Faced with water shortages, my town, Cape May, N.J., a shore resort, doubles the water rate charge from April through September, the high time of the year for tourism. It works.
Perhaps your paper can argue for this solution in St. Petersburg/Tampa. It could be done from December through April.

Government Wants
The people turning in their neighbors in Pinellas County for sprinkler use reminds me of the "rats" in Nazi Germany. Shame on them.
Why is the government not going after the gross abusers who use millions of gallons annually? Because it doesn't want to lose the revenue from the large water bills.
Why is government not going after the developers who have overbuilt the area? Because it wants the revenue from the tax base.
Where were the government inspectors who were supposed to be overseeing the Bill Young reservoir? And who's paying for the inferior work now? The taxpayer.
Why is Tampa Bay Water always crying "after the fact" when it should be in the forefront of the problem?
Me conserve? Ha!
