In these hard economic times public radio outlet WUSF (89.7 FM) has managed to exceed its spring membership campaign goal of $400,000.
Cathy Coccia, development director at WUSF, says the success in the current economy "shows how incredibly supportive the community is of public radio and the programming we provide here at WUSF 89.7."
During the pledge campaign which ended on Friday, the station received 2,368 pledges and welcomed more than 1,000 new members. The funds raised will be used to support the operational costs of the station. Throughout its 12-county broadcast area, WUSF 89.7 reaches more than 284,000 listeners per week.
"We are extremely thankful to our community for their continued support of WUSF," said JoAnn Urofsky, general manager of WUSF Public Broadcasting. WUSF is licensed to the University of South Florida. For more information, visit www.wusf.org.
