Published: March 31, 2009

Authorities say a Bradenton woman stabbed an acquaintance from church and then chased another woman with the knife during an argument Monday evening.

Jeanette Faust, 42, was arrested on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest shortly after the 5:30 p.m. attack at a residence in the 6000 block of Fifth Street East.

A Manatee sheriff's report states that Faust and Marvidex McCray, 35, were arguing when the fight turned violent when Faust pulled a knife from her pocket and stabbed McCray in the neck and shoulder, the report said.

McCray's mother, Bertha McCray, tried to stop the fight and ran when Faust turned the knife on her.

Bertha McCray, 53, was not injured but later passed out and was treated at Manatee Memorial Hospital along with Marvidex McCray, who was treated for the stab wounds.

Faust fled the residence but was located in a wooded area in the 200 block of 34th Avenue Drive East, the report said.

Faust, of the 600 block of 61st Avenue West, is being held in the county jail on bail.
