TAMPA - A charity baseball tournament will be held in honor of former University of South Florida football player Will Bleakley, who was lost at sea with two NFL players on a March 1st fishing trip.
Proceeds from the tournament will go toward a scholarship fund at USF for a high school graduate who "exemplifies the courage, kindness and commitment that Will showed."
The 2009 St. Petersburg Storm will host the First "Will Bleakley Memorial Baseball Tournament" April 30-May 3 for teams ages 18-and-older. Games will be held at Frank Tack Fields and the Joe DiMaggio Complex with the championship held at Bright House Networks Field.
Cost is $250 per team. The scholarship goal is $5,000 and $2,000 already has been pledged or donated, according to the tournament's Web site: WB84.com
