MAYPORT NAVAL STATION - Sailors and Marines from the United States and 11 other countries have stormed north Florida beaches, learned to board ships or repel boarders, learned to find submarines and hide from them as training continues off the Atlantic coast.
Militaries from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Germany, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay and the United States are participating in the two-week exercise designed to teach the countries' navies to work together.
More than 25 ships, four submarines, 50 aircraft, 650 Marines and 6,500 sailors are involved in the exercises near Mayport Naval Station the 50th anniversary of UNITAS.
UNITAS ends Tuesday.
