CLEARWATER - A construction worker was struck in the head by a block-and-tackle hoist this afternoon and was transported to a local hospital as a trauma alert patient, officials said.
The worker – whose name and age were not released – was wearing a hard hat at the time of the 1:47 p.m. accident at 301 S. Gulfview Blvd., said Elizabeth Watts, Clearwater's public safety spokeswoman.
He was working in an elevator shaft when the hoist fell 10 to 15 feet and hit his head, Watts said.
