Man charged with beating girlfriend, kicking dog

TAMPA - A 21-year-old Tampa man beat his girlfriend and kicked his dog, Hillsborough County deputies say.
Deputies arrested Michael Francis at 10:50 p.m. Sunday. He was charged with animal cruelty and domestic battery by strangulation.
Deputies came to Francis' home in response to the battery and noticed a pit bull puppy limping and in pain, sheriff's spokesman J.D. Callaway said.
Francis' girlfriend said Francis had injured the dog by kicking it, Callaway said.
Francis remained in Orient Road Jail today. His bail has not been set.
