CLEARWATER - Pinellas County's Tourist Development Council next week will consider a $25.67 million budget for 2010, down from $27.12 million this year, as the unsettled economy reduces tax dollars collected from overnight visitors.
Some budget details remain to be worked out at the council's May 13 meeting, including how declining sponsorship money will be apportioned among the Tampa Bay Rays, the Ironman competition, the Grand Prix in St. Petersburg, the St. Petersburg Bowl and Tampa's Outback Bowl.
The council is recommending spending $600,000 on sports-related sponsorships, down from $980,000 this year.
The Pinellas County Commission is scheduled to vote on the council's 2010 budget in September.
