BROOKSVILLE - Take caution when you try to bury your marijuana stash; you never know who's watching.
A Brooksville woman learned that lesson Saturday night when deputies showed up at 1223 Olmes Road to serve an arrest warrant on a man named Blaine Terry.
Terry wasn't home, but deputies lingered after they say they smelled burnt marijuana coming from a room in the house. No one claimed the marijuana, so a deputy asked for identification from Blaine's father, John Terry, and Roseann Jacobson.
Terry produced his ID, but Jacobson said hers was left in her car parked behind the house. She was asked to get it.
Jacobson went outside to her car, but instead of retrieving the ID she started burying a bag of marijuana, according to a report. Unbeknownst to her, a third deputy was hiding behind a tree in the backyard.
He was posted there in anticipation of the wanted subject running out the back door, but instead he reportedly witnessed the marijuana burial. The pot was retrieved from the ground and Jacobson, 39, cited for possession of marijuana.
